University statutes
All three Slovene public universities regulate the use of teaching languages very similarly in their statutes. Their rules are based upon the Higher Education Act.
Slovene is the teaching language of all three public universities. The following activities can be performed in a foreign language:
The statute of the University of Ljubljana also allows that joint study programs with universities abroad are performed in foreign languages. The Statute of the University of Maribor allows that courses that are not part of the National Higher Education Program and therefore the university is likely to offer them as additional pay content are performed in foreign languages. Universities commit themselves in their statutes that when deciding about contents in foreign language they will take into account the language skills of students and lecturers. Final works (Bachelor, Master and PhD thesis) should normally be written in Slovene:
